My Name is Joanna and I love Old China Patterns and sharing information with others on where to obtain those "hard to find" gems or replacements for your collection. Thanks for visiting my website!
china tea sets antique I have a lovely set of antique china, where can I find out more about it?
It's a small tea set, pale pink with a white border, made by Johnson Bros in England. It's marked 'Old Staffordshire.'
I know it's not complete, and it's seen some use. I'd like to discover when it was made and if it's worth selling. Here's a link to a picture of a few pieces of it:
Does anyone have any information regarding this set?
Or know where I can go to inquire on the net?
I searched for a few minutes and came up with nothing, apparently Johnson Bros. made/makes a TON of china.
Any help would be great! Thanks!
Added to the previous answer - chinasearch or platemate (they are companies in the UK who specialise in supplying pieces for discontinued patterns and you might get an idea of current values for individual pieces).

Features an indigenous Fujian lacquering style which uses seven carefully polished layers of lacquer-tree sap to create a complex, beautiful, and sturdy surface; each piece is then antique-finished for a gorgeous authentic look. The resulting surface has a matte finish, unusual among Chinese lacquer furniture, which is usually very shiny. These pieces are based on traditional designs steeped in ancient Asian history, and exhibit many common natural and cultural motifs, often adapted from ancient and beloved Asian art. Motifs include birds, animals and flowers, which are meaningful in Buddhist- and Confucian-influenced cultures. What is Worldstock? The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. Camellia sinensis, commonly known as tea, is grown in tea gardens and estates around the world. A simple beverage, served either hot or iced, tea has fascinated and driven us, calmed and awoken us, for well over two thousand years. Tea: The Drink that Changed the World tells of the rich legends and history surrounding the spread of tea throughout Asia and the West, as well as its rise to the status of necessity in kitchens around the world. From the tea houses of China’s Tang Dynasty (618-907), to fourteenth century tea ceremonies in Korea’s Buddhist temples’ to the tea plantations in Sri Lanka today, this book explores and illuminates tea and its intricate, compelling history.
Tea is second only to water as the most-consumed beverage in the world. When recent studies revealed green tea’s health benefits, North American consumption skyrocketed. Tea is a comprehensive guide to non-herbal tea, the plant Camellia sinensis. Concise and authoritative text and an abundance of color photographs take the reader on an escorted tour of the world’s teagrowing countries: China, Japan, Taiwan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam and East Africa. Like a fine wine, it is the “terroir”--a region’s soil and climate--that imparts unique characteristics to a tea. The book covers black, green, white, yellow, oolong, pu’er, perfumed, aromatic and smoked teas. Topics include: An overview of the history of tea Tea varieties The worldwide export of tea How tea is processed Signature tea cultivars The art of making, serving and tasting tea, including tea ceremonies Tea in cooking, with 15 recipes from gourmet chefs A directory of teas. A set of detailed charts, tables and graphs shows the caffeine, antioxidant and other biochemical properties of 35 teas. Tea aficionados go on organized tours of tea-growing regions, enroll in tasting seminars and earn professional certificates. For them and for the interested reader who enjoys the occasional cup, Tea is a beautifully presented homage to the world’s most beloved hot beverage.

It sounds like they are not only rude but are also using you yes you could of gave in but that wouldn't solve anything so yes I think you did exactly what anyone should do when someone is taking advantage of a situation or being nosey or just flat being rude. As far as hubby goes just tell him look at it this way now hopefully they got the hint not to be so rude.
You have absolutely every right to be as pissed off as you did. Make sure "Dave" realizes that he and his mom are no longer welcome at your house, and enforce that. I hope you and your hubby didn't get into a fight, but I'd say that if he chose to say nothing he was siding with you, so good luck. Screw Dave and his mom, though, they are rude, hateful, using people and you don't need that shit.
