Looking for a children's book....please help?
I don't remember the book too well, only that some sort of creature (a young female) was saving money to buy a tea set. She wanted to buy a blue china set, but her friend told her that they were all out and she ended up purchasing a cheap red plastic set.
Eventually, she found out that her friend had lied to her and bought the blue tea set herself. I'm not sure what happened from there on, only that it involved some coins in a sugar bowl and the two ended up trading tea sets.
Do you have any idea what book this is? It's been bothering me to no end,,,
"A Bargain for Frances" by Russell Hoban and Lillian Hoban. I read that book myself when I was kid too. It is an AWESOME story!

Anybody know the title of this book about a little girl and dolls come to life?
I remember reading and loving this book as a child, but can't recall many specific details. It's about a girl in an orphanage (or possibly boarding school) who doesn't have many friends. She finds a secret way into the attic, where she finds two dolls, a husband and wife, who come alive and become her friends and only consolation.
The husband and wife doll have a "flower garden" on the wallpaper that they pretend to water (I seem to recall blue roses?), and don't know that they are dolls or this is magic. They have tea parties out of a small china set. They play games (I remember blind man's bluff for some odd reason) and help her become more comfortable with herself and learn how to be her own friend.
I recall this book from my youngest days and would someday like to read it to my own children. Does anybody have any idea which book this could be? Thank you!
It might be "Behind the Attic Wall" by Sylvia Cassedy. It's a book about a 12 year old girl named Maggie who's an orphan. She gets kicked out of a boarding school and is sent to live with two old aunts. One day she hears whispering going on in the attic and finds two dolls that live there, and makes friends of them.
