How do I get a fat sister in law to see she is in denial, & to loose weight ?
I love my brother very much-he keeps himself in good shape,biking & excersizing. His wife weighs probably clise to 350 if not more. We always had a good relationship & twice I told her how concerned I was about her weight, she has done nothing about it. She piles enough food on her plate for a family of 4!! then has seconds as well as desert. Even her kids have tried to help her. She is 49 years old.
A lot of people eat as a coping mechanism to deal with other stresses in their lives. Unfortunately, its not really your place to 'nag' your in-law about her weight. You could, however, pressure your brother to talk to her about it.

Is there such a thing as a mother trying to make her children fat?
She is an otherwise great mother but she feeds her children lots of junk food and gives positive reinforcement for things such as finishing the plate or eating a large amt. of desert. She calls her daughter "my little fat girl" like it's something to be proud of. She buys her daughter clothes that are way to big and swares they are her size. Is anyone familiar with this?
with all that you hear these days, it sounds like an emotional problem to me. those kids need help, as much as she loves her children i think it is also a form of abuse, she is just ignorant to it, and uneducated. someone speak up to her for the kids sake.

shopping is such therapy…dont feel guilty, you are merely doing your part to help our economy. those baby spoons are the cutest. i love all mini things, seriously, kyle thinks half the reason i enjoy traveling so much is just to get travel sized items (hes not too far off)! thank god i have your blog to make me feel “normal” about all these crazy ocd aspects of my life, espec the dessert plates. music = everything but country
