Need answer to question about European license plates...?
My boyfriend just purchased a Mercedes, and is wanting a European style license plate on the front. Does anyone know what the letters mean on the front? He would really like one from Stuttgart, Germany...do you know how I can find this...Ebay does not have what I want...I would really like to order it as a surprise, so I do not want to look like a fool and ask him...please help???

1. She can use the car for a maximum of 3 months before it requires a German Registration Number. To obtain the German registration plate the vehicle will have to comply with ALL EU construction and use regulations + she would require a receipt to prove tax has been paid in the country of original purchase. The cost of proving EU road worthiness could be very high (in excess of €2000)
2. Assuming you have insurance you could drive the car for the 3 months

4. A host of customs regulations have to be met and they are very complicated to manoeuvre your way through. Suggest your best bet would be to have the car shipped by specialist such as claridon.co.uk
5. Cars from other EU states are legal throughout the Eu (except the UK because they drive on the 'wrong' side of the road and headlamp deflectors are required.)

A friend of mine did this – but he had a permanent address. If you are there temporarily you may be out of luck as the permanent address was one of the requirements.
