Nikko Blue
Can anyone save my hydrangea and astilbes?
I bougt three astilbes and a nikko blue hydreangea about three weeks ago. I watered them every day a lot until I forgot to to days in a row. I was away, so when I got back, my hydreangea and astilbes were beginning to brown. I've been watering them for 20 minutes each every day with a light sprinkle, and have been giving them miracle grow regularly, however, their condition have steadily worsened. My astilbes are almost completely brown, and only a little bit of my hydranges is not brown. It's so depressing driving up to our house seeing pretty much dead flowers, not to mention embarrassing. Please help!
yes, they can be difficult to get started. been there done that. trim off the dead part and water with miracid 2 x a week and water everyday in between. it takes the roots a lot of coaxing to get started. as long as there is a little sun- light and plenty of water, they will get a little better every year. if there is 100% shade, try a new place for them. they need 'some' sun and lots of acid and water. when they take fineally do take hold, they will be beautiful. water......water.....water....

Hydrangea wilting?
Have replaced it once... exact same hole. There are other hydrangeas close by which are having no problems and the sprinkler system seems to be hitting all of them equally. I've checked the soil and it seems to have the same moisture content as where the others are doing great.
Could it be something in the soil? Am I being fooled? Any suggestions?
I am thinking of cutting it back and giving it a bit of root stimulator and a fish emulsion feeding.
It is a 'Nikko Blue'..., there is an 'Endless Summer' with which I am having almost exactly the same issue. Others around it are doing fabulous.
Zone 6, have them in part shade... this really should not be happening.
Not really likely to be overwatered. If the whole area is being watered the same... then wouldn't the others show the same symptoms?
Actually, where the Nikko blue is wilting, the others are Nikko Blue.
And the same with the endless summer... the rest are endless summer and the one is wilting, and staying wilted.
It could maybe have a bacterial wilt. This would need a fungicide. Yes, it could be in the soil. Treat before it spreads to others. Try Daconil or Fungonil or other fungicide available in your area.
