What does the intensity pattern from a diffraction grating look like?

The patterns are for monochromatic light (one wavelength/colour) and so interference of the diffracted waves passing through the slits results in constructive interference (addition of the waves) at precise points where the path differences are a whole number of wavelengths. Everywhere else there is destructive intereference and little or no wave. The pattern applies to light, microwave, sound etc.
