   Very enjoyable website, definitely a perfect place in cyberspace for me. I've been spending spring vacations with my husband in the UK for 28 years. We go to London for a few days, then rent a cottage in Dorset. I love everything about England: the culture, the landscape, even the food. My favorite film is Brief Encounter, The Third Man, Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago.
   My favorite authors include Graham Greene, Somserset Maugham, Anita Brookner, Ruth Rendell (Barbara Vine), Daphne DuMaurier. My daughter's favorite books were Ant and Bee and the full Beatrix Potter series.
   My favorite restaurant in New York is Tea and Sympathy.
   I love British WW2 music: Vera Lynn, Adelaide Hall, Carroll Gibbons, Ray Noble, Billy Cotton, Jack Hylton, Ambrose, Geraldo.
   I wear make-up only from Boots, perfume from Fortnum's, and drink Typhoo tea. My husband's shaving oil comes from Tesco, my “knickers” from M&S.
   Favorite London restaurant: Oriel on Sloane Square.
   My house is filled with Shelley China cups and saucers, old silver flatware and tea sets and plastic handled knives from Portobello, Camden Passage, Bermondsey, the Monday Covent Garden Market, the Silver Vaults and Sunday antique shows at hotels on Piccadilly, and antiques markets all over the UK (especially the Monday Silver Street Market in Taunton, shows in Kingston Mauward and Shepton Mallet, Ali's Pali in London and Penny's in Lyme Regis).
   My favorite bookshops are Hatchards, Persephone and design bookstores near Leicester Square.
   Favorite museums: Design Museum, Imperial War Museum.
   Favorite cashmere sweater: from the old Scotch House.
   Other favorite cashmere sweaters: from Westaway and Westaway near the British Museum.
   Best fold up umbrellas: Tie Rack on Oxford Street.
   Favorite shops: Cath Kidston, the Bond Street Ralph Lauren, all of the Muji's, Liberty, Lulu Guinness, Harvey Nicks.
   Best fishing store: Farlow's of Pall Mall.
   Best (French) chocolate at Liberty's: Reine Astrid
   As a graphic designer, I love everything British. The typefaces Gill Sans and Baskerville, vintage coronation tins with pictures of Queen Elizabeth II, postcards from every town, a great book photography called Boring Postcards by Martin Parr, old Union Jacks, all kinds of ephemera from holiday cards to armed forces manuals and Victorian mail order catalogs. Also French ivory frames and perpetual calendars.
   Great fabric flowers from Marylebone Road, Chelsea Gardner and Cilla Camilla in Beaminster.
   Best Mallorca cultured pearls: Peter Jones in London, Jolly's in Bath.
   Special teashop: Maids of Honor across from Kew Gardens.
   Special antique shop: Tobias and the Angel in Barnes.
   Favorite magazine: British Country Living
   Favorite book reviews: The Guardian Review (can be ordered weekly for delivery in the U.S.)
   I also love agriculture shows, flower markets, dog agility shows, the Donkey Sanctuary in Devon, the Rising Sun hotel in St. Mawes, Cornwall, and the old Summer Lodge in Evershot when Nigel and Margaret Corbett ran it.
