Italian Pottery What do i give/gift giving etiquette to my Italian boyfriend and his family on my second visit? please help?
last time I visited them in the region of lombardy italy i bought
-a local novelty honey/mead wine -good quality tea from selfridges -coconut chocolate dipped shortbread from prince charles duchy originals -a pottery cow for the mothers birthday -a tub of jellybeans and an auden poetry book for my bfs birthday
they sent me home with soooo much! -a minituare violin-their town is home to the stadavaria violin -limoncello -local pear liquor -a bag of torrone (local dark chocolate coated nougats) 2 mini boxes of pocket coffee chocolates 2 minis boxes of 'baci' chocolates a good quality pannettone cavalli perfume cavalli body lotion
they even offered me slippers! plus they kept treating me to meals, wine, coffee, pastries, sweets etc wherever i went!
I'm really embaressed/yet happy at their generosity and he said they love me...
I am a 17 year old girl. What do I bring them when i stay with them again at the end of january?
Wow ain't the Italians great!! These people sound so sweet and so generous and obviously like you a great deal. This of course says mountains about what a good person you are. As for gift giving think of their home and things they have in it and personalize it American style with items they could not find in their region of Italy. Perhaps Waterford or a Decanter something high end and decorative. Remember you are only 17 so the money thing is a huge issue but showing number one that you thought of their home with the gift in mind will say so much. Have a safe and wonderful trip
Black White Edition. The only pottery porcelain identification guide written in English that explores the rich history of one of Europes most important ceramics producing centers, the city of Faenza. Faenza, from which the world of art coined the term faience, was home to such past greats as the Minardi Brothers, Pietro Melandri, Carlo Zauli and Riccardo Gatti and is now the home of the most important ceramics art museum in the world as well as the largest international ceramics competition on the planet. Unlike most identification guides this book brings the artists to life, explores their character and their world. It goes beyond dry facts and dates and offers its readers the opportunity to understand their collections in historical and human terms. With more than 125 ceramics marks and almost 100 photographs covering the 19th, 20th 21st centuries, in a format similar to our first Italian pottery guide, the collector will find a wealth of information and a fascinating trip through time and art. Japanese Pottery What is this form of grammar called?
Sentences that use
I + "have" + "past participle version of a verb" + for + a duration
Examples:
I have played the guitar for 3 years. I have written a diary since I was 12. She has made pottery for a while.
I also think this sentence form is called Genzai-kei in Japanese. Oh, it's actually genzai kanryo kei in Japanese. I think this also refers to just the verb form, but somehow when we are teaching genzai kanryo kei, they don't teach how to use it in a sentence like "I have played the guitar" which has a very different meaning!

Ceramics Hand Where can I find the value for hand-made ceramic dolls besides e-bay?
Your local library would have, or can get, books on the subject. I'd check there first and if you found one you liked you could buy it from a bookstore.
This comprehensive guide covers the materials, tools, methods, and techniques for making original ceramic pieces in a wide range of forms. From hand sculpting to pinching, wheel throwing to slip casting, here you`ll ?nd easy-to-follow instructions accompanied by beautiful photographs to make the world of ceramics clear and exciting. Readers will also learn about glazes, ?ring techniques, decorating tips, and much more.
In the same bright, open design as the well-received Ceramics for Beginners: Hand Building, this second entry in the series offers an introduction to the mechanics of wheel-thrown ceramics. Artist Emily Reason takes the beginner ceramist through nine projects, starting from one of two fundamental forms (cylinder or bowl). Color bands throughout point the reader to related information on various techniques, while gallery sections provide inspiration.
Beginners eager to explore the world of ceramics, as well as experienced potters seeking new techniques and ideas, will find this colorful, technique-packed manual absolutely inspiring. Lavishly illustrated and visually attractive, it provides both practical and creative information on tools and materials, production processes, glazing, and decorative techniques—including detailed explanations of clays, kilns, and accessories. Explore essential methods for modeling (hand building, wheel turning); for decorating the pieces (slips, glazes, colored engobes); and for properly firing the finished piece at both low and high temperatures. Put all that new knowledge to work on six step-by-step projects—from a large, oval sculpture formed by extrusion and wheel-throwing to a beautifully simple functional vessel—all created by top ceramists.
